The school of law began in 1868 as the Trinity College School of Law. Trinity College was renamed Duke University in 1924 and consequently, the school of Law became Duke University School of Law.

Duke Law is one of the “T14” law Schools which means that it has consistently made it to the list of top 14 law schools in the US. Currently, the Law School is ranked #10 in Best Law Schools. The full-time program application fee is $80 while the full-time tuition fee is $66,120. Might seem like a lot of money but you’re going to be getting value for every dollar you spend. Asides from the regular classroom lectures, the school offers students mock trials and court competitions that enable students to finesse their verbal advocacy skills. University of North Carolina Law School

The aforementioned school is a professional school within the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Established in 1845, it is one of the oldest law schools in the United States and the oldest in North Carolina. It is called Carolina Law for short. The school currently occupies the #24 spot in Best Law Schools. The local tuition fee is $19,012 while the domestic tuition fee is $34,119 and the international tuition fee is $41,016. Carolina Law has an acceptance rate of 18%.

Carolina Law received American Bar Association approval in 1928 and has over the years built a strong reputation because of its expertise in areas of law such as constitutional inquiry, bankruptcy, civil rights, entrepreneurial and securities law, intellectual property, environmental law, critical studies, and banking.

Wake Forest University School of Law

The Wake Forest University School of Law is a professional graduate school of Wake Forest University. The mother institution is a private Institution making the school of law a private American Bar Association accredited law school. The school is also a member of the Association of American Law Schools. The school which was established in 1894 has consistently been ranked among the Top Tier Law Schools in the United States.

Over the last decade, Wake Forest tuition has been on an annual rise. The average tuition rate increase in the last three years is 4%. The current tuition fee is $49,276. Keep in mind that this amount covers only tuition. For an institution with an average 81% Bar passage rate, the money spent will certainly not be regretted. With a 33.9% acceptance rate, the school is ranked #44 in terms of selectivity.

The school is particularly famous for having one of the top moot court programs in the United States. In addition to that, the institution has several school-run clinics as well as three student-run journals. The school takes pride in the hands-on teaching pattern that it adopts.

Elon University School of Law

Elon University School of Law was established in 2006. It occupies the former downtown public library building in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is a professional graduate school of Elon University, a private institution of higher learning. The school of law received full accreditation from the American Bar Association in 2011. The school charges a tuition fee of $34,550. An acceptance rate of 35.9% puts it at the #54 spot in terms of student selectivity.

Not minding that in contrast to the other law schools on this list that have been in existence for more than a century the Elon University School of Law has been in existence for only a decade-plus, the school has certainly carved a niche for itself. Students were full of praises for the school in the 2022 edition of a popular law school guide.

When a school that was established some 16 years ago makes it to the same list as those established over 150 years ago, then it certainly is doing something right. In its not so few years of existence, Elon School of Law has garnered a reputation for teaching skills and professional competencies 21st-century lawyers need to excel. The school operates a curriculum that lays strong emphasis on legal writing, oral advocacy, and broader professional competencies.

North Carolina Central University School of Law

Last but certainly not least on our list is the NCCU School of Law. The Law School is associated with the North Carolina Central University. It is fully accredited by the American Bar Association and the North Carolina State Bar Council and is also a member of the Association of American Law Schools. The school is ranked #147-193 in Best Law Schools. The tuition ranges from $6,629 to $19,336 for local and domestic students respectively. The school has an acceptance rate of 38.2%. This means that for every 100 applicants, only 38 are admitted. With a less than half acceptance rate, the school is selective.
