Why are we discussing some of the top Colleges On The Beach? Well, it is common knowledge that the beach is synonymous with serenity, tranquillity, and calmness. To most people, the beach is their favorite relaxation spot. Whilst some people find the time to frequent the beach, others find time to go once in a while. Whether frequently or rarely, nothing can take away the feeling of satisfaction you get every time you walk on wet sand, feel the ocean breeze on your face, and smell the saltiness of the sea.

The process of acquiring a degree comes with a lorry load of stress that can be overwhelming sometimes. Imagine doing something as stressful as acquiring a degree in an environment as serene as a beach. True that it may not take away all the stress, but ain’t no denying the fact that it will help. Have you ever imagined what it’d feel like to look outside your classroom during lectures and be greeted with the sight of a tide rolling over deep blue or green water? 1. Florida Gulf Coast University —Location: Fort Myers, Florida.

This institution makes it first on our list of colleges on the beach. Located a 45-minute drive away from The Gulf of Mexico and also surrounded by other local popular beaches, Florida Gulf Coast University is reputed to be one of Florida’s and even the United States’ greenest campuses. In addition to being situated very close to Fort Myers, with its dorms just a few steps away from the beach, the university has an 80-acre lake, the North Lake Village.

2. University of Hawaii—Manoa—Location: Honolulu, Hawaii

Next on our list of colleges on the beach is the University of Hawaii at Manoa, located a few miles away from some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Located in the lush Manoa Valley, right on the main island of O’ahu, it is about 3 miles away from the Pacific Beach and approximately 2.5 miles away from the world-famous Waikiki, a vibrant neighborhood that is best known for its surf beach.

3. Pepperdine University—Location: Malibu, California

Because Pepperdine University is situated in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, the school overlooks the Pacific Ocean and also sits along with one of the most scenic roads in the United States, the Pacific Coast Highway. The Malibu Lagoon State Beach is the closest beach to the university as it is just two minutes away. Asides from the Malibu Lagoon, there are other beaches like the Dan Blocker Beach, which is a four-minute drive from the university campus, the Topanga State Beach, and the Zuma Beach, which is twelve minutes away from the university.

4. The University of California— Santa Barbara— Location: Santa Barbara-Isla Vista, California

It is not surprising that the University of California in Santa Barbara made it to our list of colleges on the beach, is it? Campus Point, also known as Goleta Point, is the surfing beach at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The beach is situated before the official entrance of the university, the Henley Gate. The Goleta Point or Beach is a beautiful strip of tall palm trees and a vast ocean. Also, the university is just a short stroll away from the sandy beaches of the Pacific Ocean.

5. Eckerd College— Location: St. Petersburg, Florida

Eckerd College has on its bay a 100-yard white sand beach, the South Beach. From the First Autumn Term bonfire to graduation day, most students at Eckerd have many of their best college memories at South Beach. The beach has two sand volleyball courts, a skateboard ramp, a fire pit, swing sets, an outdoor pavilion, and an adjacent full-size rugby and soccer field. All these make Eckerd look more like a vacation spot than a college. Talking about vacations, students who wish to can decide to spend their vacations exploring the College’s Beach vacation rentals which have tons of apartments, including Beachfront duplexes with unobstructed and secluded ocean views.

6.  University of West Florida— Location: Pensacola, Florida

Not only is the University of West Florida located on a beach, but it also owns a beachfront property. The university is just a few miles and minutes away from some of the world’s brightest beaches. Students from the university frequent Johnson Beach because of its proximity to them.

7. Coastal Carolina University— Location: Conway, South Carolina

Located just ten miles away from Myrtle Beach, it’s a no-brainer why Coastal Carolina got its name. Although the beach is not right on the campus premises, students do not have to travel far to access the 60 miles of beautiful sandy beaches with exciting attractions, lots of fun activities, and beachfront structures.

8. Monmouth University— Location: West Long Branch, New Jersey

Eighth on our list of colleges on the beach is Monmouth University, located near Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park and approximately one hour from New York City, and a walking distance from the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. The residences of the university are located adjacent to the boardwalk and beach.

9. California State University— Long Beach— Location: Long Beach, California

Eighth on our list of colleges on the beach  is the California State University (not surprising, is it?) The University is located in Long Beach, California State University and houses 3,000 peach trees, and offers clubs in wakeboarding, surfing, water skiing, and sailing. The university is located 25 miles from Los Angeles and 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean. In addition to Long Beach, the university also shares proximity with beaches like Bayshore Beach, Alamitos Beach, Rosie’s Dog Beach, and Cal State Long Beach, amongst other exotic places like the Contemporary Arts Museum, the Marine Stadium, a Recreation Park, the Lyman Lough Fountain and many more.

10. Texas A&M University— Location: Corpus Christi, Texas

The last on our list of colleges on the beach is Texas A&M University. According to the school’s website, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is the only university in the United States to have its island. Situated along the Corpus Christi Bay, the school is just a short drive away from the Gulf of Mexico. Beaches around the university are Whitecap Beach, McGee Beach, North Beach, and Breaker Avenue Beach Park.

Keep in mind that all aforementioned universities rank highly nationally and internationally. So, asides from offering a beautiful environment and scenery, they also offer A-grade education.
